Taskstand vs Toggl Track
Your hours in Toggl Track, your tasks in another tool, and at the end of the month you put the two side by side. This comparison is about Toggl Track; new Toggl customers now get a different product.

Where Toggl Track is better
-
A timer on every device
Toggl Track has apps for your computer, your phone and your watch, and the desktop app works offline too. Taskstand runs in the browser, on your phone too.
-
The timer inside your other tools
The browser extension puts a timer button in more than a hundred tools you already use, so you do not have to switch.
-
Help with keeping track
Toggl Track notices when the timer keeps running while you are away, has a Pomodoro timer, and turns events from Google or Outlook into hours.
-
Reports in every detail
Saved reports, and from Premium reports sent on a schedule. Taskstand shows hours per project, and on Business across all your projects with an export.
Where Taskstand is better
-
The timer on the task itself
You start the timer on the task you are working on, in the same list your tasks live in. No second tool, and no hours to tie to a project afterwards.
-
Every project on one screen
The dashboard shows every running project with its tasks, progress, hours and what still has to be invoiced, not just the hours.
-
Knowing what has been invoiced
Mark hours as invoiced, and Taskstand shows per project what is still open. Toggl Track has no state for that; a tag is the usual workaround.
-
Share a section with your client
A client with the Restricted role sees only the sections or tasks you share, and nothing of your hours or rates. Toggl Track shares a report through a link.
-
Your old hours come along
Taskstand reads the Toggl Track export. Each Toggl project goes to one of your projects, and an import can be undone for thirty days.

Who is better off with Toggl Track
Toggl Track stays the better choice if all you want is to track time, on every device and from inside your other tools, with detailed reports, while your task list works fine somewhere else.
Switching from Toggl Track
Export your hours from Toggl Track. On every Toggl plan that goes through Settings and Data export, a year at a time; on a paid plan also through the detailed report as a CSV.
In Taskstand, open the Hours page of a project and choose Import from Toggl. For each Toggl project you pick one of your projects, a new project, or skip it. Importing the same file twice changes nothing.
The hours arrive without a task and without a budget. If your archive has already been invoiced, tick that when you import. Then put the rest in a budget with an hourly rate.
From then on you start the timer on the task in Taskstand. What is in Toggl Track stays there too.
Frequently asked questions
- Does Taskstand have a mobile app?
- Not in the App Store or on Google Play. Taskstand works in your phone's browser, with a layout made for a small screen, and you can add it to your home screen as an app.
- Do my old hours come along?
- Yes. The owner of a project imports the Toggl Track export, on every plan. An import that does not turn out right can be undone for thirty days.
- Can my client see my hourly rate?
- No. Rates, budgets and amounts are seen only by the owner of the project and a manager. A client sees nothing about the hours, and a restricted member only what you share with them.
- Do my clients have to pay?
- No. You pay for your own projects. Whoever you invite keeps their own free account and pays nothing. They do count towards the number of people your plan allows.
- Can I keep using Toggl Track alongside it?
- Yes, but tracking your hours in two places soon means doing the work twice. People who switch usually import the archive first and then track only in Taskstand.
